FIDES = individual billing of health care facilities.
Beginning 2010, the financial part of the Social Security Act launched the experimentation of individual and direct billing of medical acts and patient stays to the Social Security. The FIDES project is aimed at public and private health care facilities.
Following and experimentation phase which lasted about 2 years, this “on-the-fly” billing mode is now being generalized to all facilities. It allows to enhance controlling of expenditures and better detect fraud. FIDES simplifies the system of billing for all actors: health facilities, but also patients and insurance providers. FIDES focuses only on Medecine/Surgery/Obstetrical/Dentistry activities which altogether represent around €40 billion annually on health insurance costs.
